講座簡(jiǎn)介:A semi-infinite programming problem is an optimization problem with a finite number of variables and an infinite number of constraints, or an infinite number of variables and a finite number of constraints. The concept was coined in 1962 by Charnes, Cooper, and Kortanek, and became an independent field in optimization since 1980s. Recently, the Fourier-Motzkin elimination method has been extended to linear inequality systems that have an infinite number of inequalities by Basu, Martin, and Ryan. The method has been used in the study of linear semi-infinite programming. In this talk, we will discuss some of the results obtained by Basu, Martin, and Ryan and point out the limitation of the elimination of variables method when applied to the study of linear semi-infinite programming problems.

報(bào)告人簡(jiǎn)介:張慶洪博士是美國(guó)北密西根大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)與計(jì)算機(jī)系教授。1991年獲得南開(kāi)大學(xué)數(shù)學(xué)碩士學(xué)位,1999年獲得The University of Iowa 計(jì)算機(jī)碩士學(xué)位,2002獲得The University of Iowa應(yīng)用數(shù)學(xué)博士學(xué)位。張慶洪教授是美國(guó)《數(shù)學(xué)評(píng)論》評(píng)論員,在Mathematical Programming, Optimization Methods and Software, Optimization, Nonlinear Analysis, Robotica等雜志發(fā)表40多篇學(xué)術(shù)論文,在加拿大、日本、法國(guó)、德國(guó)、葡萄牙等地多次參加國(guó)際學(xué)術(shù)會(huì)議。研究領(lǐng)域?yàn)榘胝▋?yōu)化、半無(wú)窮優(yōu)化、錐優(yōu)化以及優(yōu)化在工程中的應(yīng)用。
